چکیده
The European H2020 project SLOWD is aimed to investigate the fuel sloshing damping effect reduce design loads on aircraft wings. Wings house tanks and are highly flexible structures that can significantly deform under gust loads. In recent experiment by Martinez-Carrascal González-Gutiérrez [“Experimental study of liquid effects a SDOF vertical tank,” J. Fluids Struct. 100, 103172 (2021)], complex problem inside wing structure was simplified considering partially filled vertically heaving tank attached system springs. present research, smoothed particle hydrodynamic model adopted evaluate energy dissipated in three-dimensional flow obtained using same motions. From numerical point view, simulation such violent rather challenging, involved accelerations being as large 10 g. resulting extremely because severe turbulence developed, impacts, considerable fragmentation air–liquid interface. role viscosity investigated taking into account two different liquids. Finally, some comparisons between results previous two-dimensional studies also discussed.

Dissipation of kinetic energy in two-dimensional bounded flows.
The role of no-slip boundaries as an enstrophy source in two-dimensional (2D) flows has been investigated for high Reynolds numbers. Numerical simulations of normal and oblique dipole-wall collisions are performed to investigate the dissipation of the kinetic energy E(t), and the evolution of the enstrophy Omega(t) and the palinstrophy P(t). It is shown for large Reynolds numbers that dE(t)/dt=...
متن کاملEnergy dissipation in flows through curved spaces
Fluid dynamics in intrinsically curved geometries is encountered in many physical systems in nature, ranging from microscopic bio-membranes all the way up to general relativity at cosmological scales. Despite the diversity of applications, all of these systems share a common feature: the free motion of particles is affected by inertial forces originating from the curvature of the embedding spac...
متن کاملFundamental Physics During Violent Accelerations
When a powerful laser beam is focussed on a free electron the acceleration of the latter is so violent that the interaction is nonlinear. We review the prospects for experimental studies of nonlinear electrodynamics of a single electron, with emphasis on the most accessible effect, non-linear Thomson scattering. We also speculate on the possibility of laboratory studies of a novel effect relate...
متن کاملEpithelial and stromal changes induced by intacs examined by three-dimensional very high-frequency digital ultrasound.
PURPOSE To examine epithelial and stromal layers by three-dimensional very high-frequency (VHF) digital ultrasound scanning before and after implantation of Intacs (intracorneal ring segments [ICRS]). METHODS Three-dimensional scanning was performed in five eyes before and 3 months after Intacs insertion. Digital signal processing techniques provided high-resolution B-scan imaging and I-scan ...
متن کاملEstimates for the Energy Cascade in Three-dimensional Turbulent Flows
The phenomenological theory of turbulence in three dimensions postulates that at large Reynolds numbers there exists an interval of wavenumbers within which the direct effects of the molecular viscosity are negligible. Within that interval, the so-called inertial range, an eddy characterized by a wavenumber given in that range decays principally by breaking down into smaller ones, with each of ...
